Rainy Day Photography

By Cattie Coyle Leave a Comment

People are often surprised when I tell them that overcast days are usually better than sunny ones for photography. Sure, sunshine looks happier overall, but the midday sun also produces very unflattering, harsh shadows and can be quite a lighting challenge. I also think you see things differently in different weather conditions, and I often end up with much more interesting pictures on cloudy, foggy and snowy days. And while they don’t work well for outdoor pet portraits, rainy days can be perfect too.

It has been going back and forth between showers and pouring rain all day here in Boston, so I took the chance to go outside for some backyard nature rainy day photography: a bit of brightness on a grey day.
